SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The future of Spotswood soccer hit the field this afternoon as the Spotswood Soccer Club opened their fall season. Four and five-year-olds took part in their first soccer experience by participating in fun drills like 'What time is it?' that are designed to set the foundation for the necessary skills needed to play the sport.
The kids dribbled and passed the ball around before playing a mini game on a shortened field. Green played blue while red faced off against orange in the youth division. There were smiles, a couple of tears and some reluctant participants that definitely preferred the sidelines to the playing field. However, when the final whistle blew, it was time for the best part of the afternoon; the snacks.
As the happy little players headed home with their parents, a couple stayed behind kicking the ball around with new friends.
"When is my next soccer game, mom?"
