The works of artist Susan Antin will be featured in "Experiments in Acrylic" at Gallery on Main, Somerville, in August.

SOMERVILLE, NJ - Gallery on Main continues its Artist of the Month series in August with “Experiments in Acrylic,” a series of paintings utilizing unusual paint processes and non-traditional tools by artist Susan Antin, a familiar name in the local arts community.

A “Meet the Artist” reception will be held Saturday, Aug. 5 from 6-9 p.m.  at the gallery, located at 30 W. Main St. Her paintings will be on display beginning Aug. 1.  Refreshments will be served. There is no admission charge.

Antin uses a variety of media, but primarily acrylic paint, colored pencil and ink. Her Images often represent playful, childlike ideas in a surreal, abstract style, according to the artist.

 She is an experienced artist and business person. Susan received a BA in Fine Art from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and an MBA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. While continuing to develop her artwork, she established a career in corporate training and marketing. 

Antin has been represented in many exhibitions, including the Lyceum Hall Center for the Arts in Burlington, The Westmoreland Nationals, Westmoreland College, Pa., Montgomery Center for the Arts, Montgomery, Johnson&Johnson Corporate Gallery, Skillman,and Williams Gallery, Princeton.

 She teaches art classes for The Arts Council of Princeton and in Downtown Somerville.

Susan is a board member of Arts on Division, Somerville, and is a member of: The Arts Council of Princeton, NJ; Farmstead Arts Center, Basking Ridge, and The Printmaking Center of NJ, Branchburg.

She spends much of her time coordinating art events and promoting artists for the local community.
