Get Ready To Run The Spotswood 5K And Fun Run

SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Summer is the perfect time to gear up for the upcoming Spotswood 5K and Fun Run. This year's annual event will be held on Saturday, September 9. The one-mile Fun Run will kick off at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K walk will follow at 8:45 a.m. The 5K run hits the streets at 9 a.m. The cost for the Fun Run is $20 while the fee for the 5K walk/run is $25. Prices for both races increase at 11:59 p.m. on August 31.

The Spotswood 5K Walk/Run and Fun Run is sponsored by the Spotswood Recreation Department. Each year the proceeds from the family-friendly event are donated to an athletic team or program at Spotswood High School. The proceeds from this year's races will be split between the Spotswood High School music and drama programs.

Registration can be done online at the Spotswood Recreation Department's website. Simply go to the events heading and click on the Spotswood 5K icon. A registration form can also be downloaded at the Spotswood Recreation website and mailed in. Registrations done after September 1 or on Race Day will cost $30 for the 5K walk/run and $25 for the Fun Run.

Justin Dekovics was the winner of last year's Spotswood 5K. All of the top five finishers in the 2016 race were members of the Spotswood High School cross country team. Former Charger runner and cross country coach Nicole Salge was the top female finisher in the race last fall. Gavin Romeo was the winner of the Fun Run.
