MILLTOWN, NJ - The Milltown Recreation Department is inviting residents to go red on Friday, February 3 in support of Go Red For Women. The Go Red movement is sponsored by the American Heart Association and was initiated to help raise awareness about women and heart disease. Heart disease has been typically associated with men. However, heart disease is statistically the number one killer of women. Many women aren't aware of their heart disease risk, which means it often goes undetected until it's too late. The goal of the Go Red For Women movement is to encourage ladies to go red by:
- Following a regular exercise plan
- Eating a healthier diet
- Plan on a doctor visit for an annual check up
- Get tests if deemed necessary by their doctor
- Talk to others about committing to a heart healthy lifestyle
Residents can head down to the Milltown Boro Hall on Go Red For Women day to enjoy some bagels and juice between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Donations will also be accepted for the American Heart Association. The Milltown Boro Hall is located at 29 Washington Avenue in Milltown.
