HELMETTA, NJ - Why not make the best of a snow day by fashioning a stylish snowman? In anticipation of the area's second snowstorm this winter, Mayor Chris Slavicek is inviting residents to pull on their boots and gloves and head outside on Thursday, February 9 and February 10 for Helmetta's second annual Snowman Building Contest. Prizes will be awarded for the top three most creative snowmen.

Residents should snap a photograph of their snowman and send it to mayor@helmettaboro.com along with their street address by the evening of Friday, February 10. Winning snowmen will be featured on Tapinto Milltown/Spotswood.

Slavicek held the first annual Snowman Building Contest back in January of 2016 when the state was hit with a record-setting blizzard. Most of Middlesex County clocked in with around 24 inches of snow by the time the late January snowstorm was finished.

Currently, the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning from midnight on Thursday, February 9 through 4 p.m. on February 9 with possible accumulations of six to 10 inches in Central New Jersey, making for ideal snowman construction in Helmetta. May the best snowmen win.
