SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Immaculate Conception students were met with a magical surprise when they returned to school on Thursday, August 31. While they were off enjoying summer fun, parent volunteers and teachers were busy transforming their building into a wonderland of magical delights. The decorating frenzy goes along with this year's school-wide theme, "Believing in the Unseen - A Magical Year."

"As we start the new school year, we want our students to remember that with the power of faith, prayer, hard work, kindness and sacrifice they can achieve MAGIC," explained Jane Alexander, the secretary of the ICS Advisory Council. "We also hope that our students will spend the year finding the magic in themselves and in the world around them."

Students in grades first through eighth began the 2017-18 school year with a half day on August 31 while kindergarteners will start the school year on Friday, September 1. Prekindergarten classes begin on Tuesday, September 5.

All of the students are invited to catch up with old friends and make some new ones at the school's Ice Cream Social on September 1 at 1:30 p.m.

Immaculate Conception will officially kick off this year's school-wide theme with a Family-Fun Night on September 14. The annual back-to-school event will feature music, games, food trucks and more.

The Immaculate Conception School on Manalapan Road opened its doors in 1960. It offers educational programs for grades pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.
