WOODBRIDGE, NJ - Julie Raba led the Spotswood High School varsity softball team over Woodbridge High School on Saturday, April 15. Raba smacked a triple, double and a homerun in the 8-1 victory with three crucial RBIs. The senior also scored three runs for the Chargers. Krista VanWageninge and Shannon Gonella both had two singles apiece in the win. Joey Bartusak went the distance for Spotswood, pitching a six-hitter and giving up one walk.
A five run third gave the Chargers a comfortable lead over the Barrons. They added two more in the fourth before bringing one more run across the plate in the sixth. Woodbridge got their only run in the seventh. Mackenzie Thomas and Emily Kolarick both had two singles for Woodbridge.
The win improves the Chargers overall season record to 4-4. They are 3-2 in league play. Spotswood will hit the field for their first game after spring break on Monday, April 17. The team will take on Middlesex High School on the Spotswood High School varsity softball team at 4 p.m.
