EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - The East Brunswick Elks have long been one of the many civic organizations that have extended support to both the local and greater community, especially with regard to American veterans in need of support following military service.
One cause sponsored by the Elks is Rebuilding Warriors, a non-profit organization providing service dogs to Veterans and First Responders at no cost. Over the past two years, the EB Elks have run fundraisers for the training of K-9 Elk, a service dog who will be partnered with East Brunswick's John Kelly.
John Kelly, an Army combat veteran as well as a 20-year police veteran, received his service dog K-9 Ellie, also known as K-9 Elk, on August 8 in Greenville, South Carolina. He was joined by VP of Rebuilding Warriors Jeff Mullins and his service dog Zoey.
Kelly offers "many Thanks to the East Brunswick Elks, the Central District Army of Hope and the Elks Central District Veterans Committee for their support."
At the appropriate time, there will be an opportunity to meet John Kelly and K-9 Elk when COVID restrictions are lifted.
