MIDDLESEX, NJ - Talented midfielders Mandee Mendez and Kirti Craig both netted hat tricks in the Spotswood High School girls varsity soccer team's 7-2 victory over Middlesex High School on Monday in Mountain View Park. Mendez and Craig are both D-1 commits. Craig had five points in the game with three goals and two assists. Kayla Maisano scored her first goal of the season to help keep the Chargers' unbeaten streak alive. Sofia Vieira had an assist and Laci Brown had two assists in Spotswood's win.

The Chargers took a 3-2 lead into the halftime break and exploded for four goals in the second half to nail down the victory. Taylor Anthony and Kristen Yonker each had a goal and an assist for Middlesex on Monday. Alexis Rand and Reetika Smith both spent time in net for the Blue Jays. Rand made seven saves while Smith had three. Spotswood's 2019 All-Blue Division and All-Conference goalkeeper, Julia Masucci made four saves for Spotswood. Masucci, a senior, is also already committed to take her goalkeeping skills to SUNY Courtland next fall.

Spotswood improved its overall record to 3-0-1 with the victory over Middlesex. The Chargers host another on-field rival, Wardlaw-Hartridge High School on Wednesday. Wardlaw-Hartiridge is undefeated as well, boasting a 4-0 record for the shortened 2020-21 girls soccer season. Game time is 4 p.m. at the Spotswood High School Varsity Soccer Field.
