BELMAR, NJ — It’s no secret that Belmar Manutti Marina ranks among the best boating destinations along the Atlantic coast.

Tucked along the eastern shoreline of the idyllic Shark River — just a five-minute trip by boat to the ocean — the state-of-the-art marina is a top choice among boaters looking to stay for the season, enjoy a vacation or spend the weekend.

In addition to the host of on-site amenities offered at the 300-slip marina, an abundance of attractions awaits just minutes from the water’s edge, including dockside dining with spectacular sunset views, numerous recreational activities, a bustling downtown and one of the most popular beaches along the Jersey Shore.

“There is no question that Belmar Manutti Marina has earned a reputation of being one of the premier facilities of its kind in this region — for boating and fishing enthusiasts,” said Robert Lynch, chairman of the Belmar Harbor Commission. “But what also sets us apart is that the marina is an integral part of a thriving shore community. That’s what makes us second to none as an all-around family destination.”

For boaters, the marina offers 70 transient slips for vessels up to 150 feet, making it an ideal place to stay for the weekend or entire week. There also are two upgraded and secure comfort stations with showers and laundry facilities.

For those looking to dock for the season or year, upgraded concrete floating docks can accommodate vessels 20 to 70 feet, each with shore power (30 and 50 amp) and fresh water.

In addition, there are wooden docks for boats up to 19 feet, personal watercraft slips and a kayak storage rack.

Belmar Manutti Marina is not only the Shark River basin’s largest harbor, but it’s the only facility with a fuel dock that is staffed during the summer. It also offers pump-out facilities and a dual boat ramp with a trailer parking lot.

Don’t have a boat? The marina boasts one of the largest party and charter/dive boat fleets in New Jersey. While some are wheelchair-accessible, most boats operate year-round.

It also offers the largest boat rental service for those who prefer to fish or crab in the harbor or inlet, and there is always the fishing pier to cast your rod for fluke, flounder or striped bass, depending on the time of year.

In addition, the full-service marina offers 24-hour security, a dedicated harbor master, and a bait and tackle shop. Just minutes away are retailers of boating and fishing supplies.

What’s more, the recent completion of a major dredging project has restored the Shark River channels situated off the marina to full depth and width, making it easier and safer for commercial and recreational boaters to navigate those waterways.

Situated just south of the Route 35’s Shark River bridge, Belmar Manutti Marina serves as the anchor to so much more along the harbor basin, including barbecue and picnic facilities, tennis courts, a children’s playground, miniature golf and a beach made for stand-up paddle board lessons and making sandcastles with the little ones. For the more adventurous, get on a boat and head to the ocean for a parasailing experience.

And for those who want to explore this Jersey Shore town beyond the marina, take a brisk walk to Belmar’s vibrant downtown district and explore the countless dining and shopping destinations. The district also boasts numerous galleries and art studios, and is home to the Belmar Arts Center, where there always is an art show to enjoy.

Located one block from the marina, the Belmar train station is served by NJ Transit’s North Jersey Coast Line, which has stops in Newark and New York City.

Just eight blocks away, Belmar’s 1.3-mile oceanfront offers wide sandy beaches to spend a day in the sun and surf, and a bustling boardwalk that’s second to none.

And Belmar Manutti Marina is in close reach of it all.

The Belmar Manutti Marina: By the Numbers

It also is located 35 miles south of New York Harbor and 50 miles north of Atlantic City. It is easily accessible from Route 195, 35, 18 and the Garden State Parkway.

The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn (William Morrow, 2018)

A friend, whose opinion on literature I respect greatly, reported to me recently that she had just finished reading A.J. Finn's debut novel, The Woman in the Window. Of it she said, “I wish I hadn't finished it,” which I interpreted to mean, “It was so good I'm sorry that I finished it.” ...
