EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - As part of Mayor Brad Cohen’s commitment to economic and community development, the township of East Brunswick has launched a program to encourage its residents to shop in East Brunswick and is currently encouraging local merchants to sign up.  This program will encourage residents to shop at East Brunswick establishments by offering property tax reductions or rebate checks based on the  savings they accumulate over the course of the year from shopping at the participating businesses.

In addition to the increased business volume and special listing on the Shop East Brunswick websites, businesses that sign up before May 24 will receive a free, short advertising spot with the Mayor on EBTV.

“It has been demonstrated time after time that more than two thirds of every dollar spent at a local business will continue to circulate in the local economy. This program is designed to keep the businesses that are core parts of the community engaged in the future of our township, while  providing relief to the residents who help us in that goal,” announced Mayor Cohen.

All businesses, contractors, and shop owners in town are encouraged to participate and reap the benefits of the new Shop EB program, which will officially kick off in June when residents receive their “Rebate Cards.” Any merchant who is interested in learning more can reach out to the newly-formed Office of Economic Development at (732)390-6810 or by attending a free breakfast information session at The Estate at Farrington Lake (formerly Farrington Manor), 16 Patrick Street, East Brunswick between 8am and 10 a.m. on May 4.

Mayor Cohen continued “the Township of East Brunswick is committed to helping our businesses succeed and prosper . There is a reason that the word ‘commerce’ appears on the township seal, as our merchants are one of the many reasons  that East Brunswick remains such a great community.”
