METUCHEN, NJ-- The Middlesex County Democratic Organization posted record turnout numbers in yesterday's Democratic primary, turning out 47,767 voters, coming in a close third to Essex and Hudson Counties.

Phil Murphy, the Democratic nominee who was endorsed by the Middlesex County Democratic Organization, received 20,400 votes countywide, besting local candidate John Wisniewski, whom Murphy also beat by over 1,000 in LD-19, the district Wisniewski has represented for over two decades in Trenton.

"The strength of our organization is underscored by these record turnout numbers. We are proud of our victories up and down the ballot, from the strong numbers we delivered for Ambassador Murphy in the face of a local challenge, to the contested county committee victories on the local level.  We look forward to building on this success in November as we work to elect Phil Murphy as our next governor, to strengthen the numbers for our legislation delegation, to elect our entire county slate, and to elect more Democrats on the local level," said Democratic County Chairman Kevin McCabe.
