Milltown Recreation Department Has Winter Fun On Tap

MILLTOWN, NJ - The Milltown Recreation Department has a jam-packed agenda to help residents beat those dreaded winter doldrums. Hockey fans can book a seat for the always-rocking Devils/Rangers rivalry. Seats for the February 25, NJ Devils/New York Rangers game at the Prudential Center in Newark are $100. Price includes transportation and entrance to the game. Puck drops at 5 p.m. and the bus leaves the Milltown Boro Hall at 3 p.m. The deadline for registration for the Devils/Rangers outing is January 31.

Ladies can jumpstart their winter fitness with the Women’s Volleyball League. Games are Mondays and Thursdays from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Parkview Gymnasium from January through June. The cost is $50 for Milltown residents and $60 for non-residents.

The REC Department will be going red for women and heart disease awareness on Friday, February 3. Residents are invited to GO RED FOR WOMEN and stop by the Milltown Boro Hall for a bagel and juice.

In the upcoming weeks, registration will open up for the spring soccer program as well as the Fundamental Four’s T-Ball and tennis. Soccer will hit the field in April and t-ball starts on May 6. The tennis program begins in April too.

The registration is also toying with the idea of organizing a parent/child yoga class to begin in March on Saturdays. The class will be for adults and kids ages four through eight. Participants interested in getting on the yoga mat with their child should telephone the Milltown Recreation Department at 732-828-2100, ex. 141.

Another popular Milltown Recreation trip is the American Girl and NYC shopping experience. The trip is scheduled for May and residents interested in reserving a spot are encouraged to telephone the REC department.

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote (Random House, 1965)

In Cold Blood is, quite simply, the grand-daddy of true crime writing, dubbed by Capote, himself, as the first non-fiction novel (although Norman Mailer argued the point when he published The Executioner's Song in 1979.) The conditions under which I read In Cold Blood for the first time were pretty weird, which was another ...
