New Jersey Trainer Will Coach U.S. Saddle Seat Team

READINGTON TWP. N.J. —Hilary Wilcox has been named one of the coaches for the 2018 U.S. Saddle Seat World Cup Team which will compete at the 2018 U.S. Saddle Seat World Cup competition in July.

Wilcox of Kierson Farm in Readington Township has several years of experience coaching riders in the saddle seat discipline. She maintains a substantial lesson schedule and a string of show horses. Wilcox serves in multiple volunteer roles as the United Professional Horsemen’s Association (UPHA) Exceptional Challenge Cup Committee Chair, UPHA Chapter 15 Co-Chair, and is a member of the USEF U.S. Saddle Seat World Cup Committee. “I am really honored to have been selected to coach the 2018 World Cup Team! I can’t wait to get to work with some of the top riders in our sport and continue to promote and grow the World Cup program.” 

The U.S. Saddle Seat World Cup Team is supported by grants from USA Equestrian Trust and the UPHA. US Equestrian is pleased to partner with ModJods to provide practice jods to members of the 2018 U.S. Saddle Seat World Cup Team. Thirty-two top U.S. saddle seat riders will converge on William Woods University in Fulton, Mo. on Saturday, Dec. 2, for the U.S. Saddle Seat World Cup Team Trials, attempting to earn a spot on the 2018 U.S. Saddle Seat World Cup Team as either a three- or five-gaited competitor. The following is the list of athletes scheduled to attend:

Six team members were selected for each section. Nearly 70 applications were received from 23 states for a chance to compete in the Trials on Dec. 2. Kerrianne Adamek of Murrysville, Pa.and Hallie Ricci of Allentown, N.J. were invited to the trials but did not make the team.       

These athletes represent some of the United States' most experienced and talented saddle seat riders. The finalists competed in the Trials riding two unfamiliar horses.

The Saddle Seat World Cup is a bi-annual international competition originating in the early 1980's as an informal exchange of saddle seat riders between the United States and South Africa. Teams from as many as seven nations now compete for the coveted World Cup titles.

Spectators are welcome to attend the Trials. The Three-Gaited Trials will be held 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. CST and the Five-Gaited Trials will be held 1:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. CST.
