Nicole Elizabeth Surace Remembrance Walk Set For April 2

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ - The fourth annual Nicole Elizabeth Surace Remembrance Walk will be held on Sunday, April 2 from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on the Great Lawn at Monmouth University. All of the proceeds from the event will go towards the scholarship, which has been set up at the university to honor Surace's memory.

The Milltown native was a freshman at Monmouth University when she died in a car accident on December 1, 2013 along with her boyfriend, Spotswood teen, Jeffrey Szatkowski. The pair were high school sweethearts, having met while students at Spotswood High School. Surace, who was only 18 at the time of her death, was home for Thanksgiving break at the time of the tragic accident. Szatkowski was 17 and a senior at Spotswood High School. The teens were buried side by side at their final resting place in South Brunswick's Holy Cross Burial Park.

Registration and t-shirt pick up for the remembrance walk begins at 9:30 a.m. Event registration is free and can also be done online up until Sunday, March 26. The walk will commence at approximately 10:15 a.m. on April 2. Light refreshments will be available throughout the walk. Donations to can be made to the Nicole Surace Remembrance Scholarship throughout the walk. Cash or check contributions will be accepted. Donations can also be made online throughout the year.
