Long Branch, NJ – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced he will be hosting his 2nd annual poetry showcase for the 21st National Poetry Month. The competition is open to all students in the 6th District and select submissions will be featured by Congressman Pallone on his website and Facebook and Twitter pages.

Last year, over 600 poems were submitted by students of all ages.

On April 27th, the office will hold a 'Poem in Your Pocket” event by inviting students to visit one of the Congressman’s offices to read their poem. All participants will be given a pocket Constitution.

"From William Carlos Williams to Walt Whitman, New Jersey has always been home to many of poetry's greats," said Congressman Pallone. "We must continue to promote the importance of poetry and encourage the younger generation to celebrate this legacy and expand their education.  After last year's success, I look forward to enjoying the beautiful and creative poems from the students of the 6th Congressional District."

Interested schools or students may contact Pallone's Long Branch Office at (732) 571-1140 or his New Brunswick Office at (732) 249-8892 for any questions regarding the poetry showcase.  Students should submit their original poems by April 7, 2017 by either video to pallonenj06@gmail.com or have them mailed in writing to:
