Registration Open For Milltown Follow Me 5K Walk/Run

MILLTOWN, NJ - Armed Forced Day is held annually on the third Saturday in May to honor the men and women who serve in the military. The Follow Me 5K will help celebrate this year's event with a walk/run on Saturday, May 20 that includes a pre-race ceremony at the American Legion Outdoor Pavilion to honor veterans, fallen heroes and active members of the armed forces.

Runners and walkers can begin assembling at the pavilion at 7 a.m. on race day. The pre-race Armed Forces Day ceremony will begin at 8 a.m with the race to follow at 8:30 a.m. Participants will begin the race a short distance away at the Milltown Boro Park. The route of the Follow Me 5K is the same as the Firecracker 5K, which kicks off the boro's yearly Independence Day celebrations every Fourth of July.

All of the proceeds from the event will go towards supporting veterans programs sponsored by American Legion Post 25. The fee-for early bird registraion for the race is $25. Early bird registration ends on May 18. Race-day registration will be available, beginning at the pavilion at 7 a.m. and will cost $30. Participants will receive t-shirts, an American Legion pin as well as an American flag. Water and refreshments will also be provided. The top three runners in each age group will be awarded American Legion Follow Me 5K Medallions for first, second and third place finishes.

Registration can be completed online at RunnerSignUp.com. The American Legion Post 25 is located at 4 JF Kennedy Drive in Milltown.
