SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Who's ready for some football? Flag football that is. Registration is open for the Spotswood Recreation Department's most popular sport, flag football. The seven game season begins on Sunday, March 26. Games are played on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. at Spotswood High School. The league is for boys and girls ages five through twelfth grade. Children must be five by December 31, 2016 to participate in the upcoming season.
Divisions are based on grade level though the divisions may change depending on the amount of players enrolled at each age level. The age divisions include:
Official referees will be officiating all games from grades three and up. Each game will consist of two 25 minute halves. The cost is $35 for residents and $45 for non-residents. Registration can be done online at the Spotswood Recreation Department's website.
The Flag Football League is actively looking for coaches for the upcoming spring season. Interested coaches should contact Jim Curnal by email at email@example.com. All coaches must have a Rutgers SAFETY certification. The Spotswood REC Department will be offering a Rutgers SAFETY certification course on Saturday, March 4 at Spotswood High School. Details are not yet available for registration for the upcoming certification course.
