OLD BRIDGE, NJ - Here's another opportunity to help the Middlesex County Food Bank, which is experiencing a crisis of donations as need increases here at home.  Particpate in the "Fill a Truck Food Drive" held at the Shop Rite at Fairway Plaza, 2239 Route 9 Old Bridge on  Sunday, October 5, 2015 from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

This event is organized by four local children in the Old Bridge area in association with Move for Hunger. Special thanks go to Crown Relocation for assisting in the transportation of the donations. Move For Hunger is a non-profit organization that mobilizes the relocation industry to fight hunger and reduce food waste, working with companies across North America to collect unwanted, unopened food from people who are relocating and deliver it to local food banks. To date, their network of relocation professionals has delivered over 5,000,000 pounds of food to local food banks across North America.

Over 83,000 individuals in Middlesex County struggle with food insecurity, 16 percent of them being children. This is a chance to help neighbors who are less fortunate. Through the help of these generous children in Old Bridge, Move for Hunger can continue to help more than 49 million Americans struggling with food insecurity.

Retro Review: Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo

Retro Review: Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo (Citadel Press, 1970)

How does a reviewer do justice to a book called “the great American novel”? I first read Johnny Got His Gun during the Viet Nam war, when young people, nationwide, were protesting fighting in a war that was a senseless waste of life; a war in which the United States had no business participating.

The Truth About My Reading

The Truth About My Reading

I didn't get my Composition and Literature teacher at Montclair State College at all. A crusty old man with a dour disposition, Mr. Smith always seemed angry and rude. He appropriately intimidated freshmen, even me, an English major, who found this common core course beneath my dignity. Frankly, as a graduate of Highland Park High School, and a survivor of Mrs.
