SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Roadwork on Madie Avenue may cause delays for parents during the morning drop off and afternoon pick up at the Schoenly School in the Spotswood School District for the first few weeks of school. Parents are being urged to allow extra time when dropping off and picking up their children as the 2017-18 school year begins for students in the district on Thursday, September 7, especially if they are traveling between the Appleby School and theSchoenly School.
Families were alerted to the potential delays via a mass email on Wednesday, September 6 in a letter from Superintendent Graham Peabody and Schoenly School Principal Jennifer Asprocolas. Construction on a section of Madie Avenue adjacent to the school has been ongoing since August.
The roadwork also forced the Spotswood Recreation Department to change the route of the annual Spotswood 5K, which is set for Saturday, September 9. Typically, the last leg of the race runs down Madie Avenue through the intersection at Kane Avenue.
The Spotswood Police Department will be present in and around the Madie and Kane Avenue intersection to assist in the movement of traffic in and around the Schoenly School.
Schoenly pre-schoolers begin their day at 8:30 a.m. and kindergarten and first graders start at 8:35. Pick up is 2:30 p.m. for prekindergarten and 3:10 for kindergarten and first grade.
