SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Summer just wouldn't be summer without the annual National Night Out festivities at the borough's Municipal Complex.. The Spotswood and Helmetta Police Departments will be partnering up again this August to mark National Night Out on Tuesday, August 1 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. This is the second year that the two police departments pooled their energies to host a joint celebration at the Municipal Complex on Summerhill Road.

The inaugural National Night Out was held in 1984, beginning with 400 communities nationwide. Today, more than 9,000 police departments hold National Night Out activities in towns throughout the United States. The endeavor was designed to strengthen the bonds between the community and the police in their unified fight against crime. The fun, family-friendly event also works to improve the relations between officers and the residents living in the towns they serve.

Festivities will include inflatables, food, games, music and giveaways. Emergency services will be on hand in addition to other county and community organizations.

The Municipal Complex is located at 77 Summerhill Road.
