SPOTSWOOD, NJ - ShopRite of Spotswood shoppers have endured months of shopping around the 60,000 square foot store, wondering where favorite snacks, drinks, cereal and more were currently being housed. They've dodged construction and needed to ask where certain items could be found, but like true New Jerseyans, they persevered and shopped on. Now, the long wait and shopping frustration is finally over. Grand re-opening flags are hanging from the Summerhill Road store's roof because the renovations are complete.

“We are always looking for ways to enhance the customer experience at our stores and we are thrilled to bring the Spotswood community a more convenient ShopRite, with expanded product and service offerings,” said Brett Wing, president and chief operating officer, ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc. via a press release. “We appreciate our shoppers for being so patient and understanding through the renovation process and look forward to serving the local community with the best variety, value and convenient amenities at its newly renovated neighborhood ShopRite.”

Shoppers can now enjoy an expanded bakery department that includes freshly made doughnuts and artisan bread. The larger bakery department is set up to prepare customized special occasion cakes. Customers will also find an increased floral department. Organic shoppers, vegan and vegetarians will discover a broader selection of "specialty and organic products." There is also a wider variety of glutten-free items on the store's shelves.

According to the press release, ShopRite of Spotswood will now be offering:

  • a prepared food department that features more than 300 chef-prepared meals, sandwiches, salads, sushi, deli meats, cheeses, Asian Cuisine and more.
  • a larger produce department that showcases a diverse selection of organic fruits and vegetables
  • a broader seafood department that provides a choice of 45 different kinds of fresh fish, including shellfish, oysters, fillet and head fish. Special seafood orders are available with 24-hours notice.
  • LED lighting in both the store and parking lot.

In addition, the store will now be providing customers with MobileScan, which is "a free service that allows customers to use the camera on their personal mobile device (iOS or Android) to scan barcodes of items as they shop, along with self-checkout lanes."

Busy residents can also take advantage of the ShopRite from Home option, which lets shoppers choose their items from home. ShopRite from Home shoppers will fill individual orders. Orders can then be delivered directly to a shopper's residence or picked up at the ShopRite from Home area located by the store's side parking lot.

ShopRite of Spotswood is a "registered trademark of Wakefern Food Corp." Thirty-five ShopRite Supermarkets are owned and operated throughout the Garden State and New York. ShopRite of Spotswood is open 24/7. The store is located at 380 Summerhill Road.
