SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – South Plainfield resident Robert Breslau, owner of Prestige Customwear, recently has the opportunity to design custom jackets with unique and rock-star inspired linings specifically for Ken Dashow and Jim Kerr, disc jockey’s at New York City’s WAXQ classic rock station Q104.3 FM.

While both Kerr and Dashow worked closely with Breslau to select the custom made jacket that was right for them, the linings were an added surprise from iHeartMedia executives. Created by commissioned artists at Breslau’s European factory, the lining of Kerr’s jacket features the legendary Jimi Hendricks while Dashow’s features The Beatles.

"They knew they were getting nice, custom made jackets but the linings were a total surprise. When I showed them the linings, both of their jaws dropped," said Breslau, who personally delivered the jackets to Dashow and Kerr at the Manhattan radio station.

‘Jaw dropping,’ said Dashow, perfectly describes his initial reaction. “I was absolutely shocked. It’s the most spectacular thing I have ever seen,” Dashow said, adding that while dress code at the radio station is pretty informal, the jacket is something he will wear to upcoming hosting events. “I am pretty sure everyone else’s tongues are going to be drooling, too,” he said.

During his visit to drop off the jackets, Brealau had the chance to tour the Manhattan-based classic rock radio station as well as hang around for a live broadcast. “It was a really cool day and both Jim Kerr and Ken Dashow were just phenomenal people,” he said.

Ken Dashow, a lifelong New Yorker, began his career in radio in 1978, working at various stations before joining WAXQ in 1999. He can be found on 104.3 weekday afternoons (2 to 7 p.m.) and on Sunday mornings as host of Breakfast with the Beatles.

Jim Kerr has served as a DJ for more than 40 years. He moved to New York from Detroit in 1974, running the morning show at WPLJ (95.5) or 15 years. After stints at other area stations, Kerr joined WAXQ (104.3) in 2003 and has served as the voice of station’s Rock & Roll Morning Show (5 to 9 a.m.), along with Shelli Sonstein, ever since.

Prestige Customwear, owned by Breslau for 25 years, offers a full line of custom made casual and dress shirts, suits, jackets, pants, overcoats and more. “Our goal is to keep busy men out of the store and design items that comes out exactly the way the client envisioned them. It’s all about understanding what’s right for the client and what isn’t,” said Breslau, adding that contrary to popular belief, custom made doesn't necessarily mean more money.

“We can custom make clothing out of the same fabric high end designers use for much less.”
