SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School varsity baseball team cruised to their sixth straight victory with an 11-1 win over New Brunswick High School on Wednesday, April 19. Nate Carrone allowed only one run on two hits in three and two-thirds innings on the mound. Carrone struck out six to earn the win for Spotswood. Evan Scarduffa closed out the game in relief, giving up two hits and striking out two. New Brunswick's lone run came in the second inning.
Vinnie Guardiola continued to have a hot bat, going two-for-four with one RBI and a run scored. Derek Buhl and JT Vento both scored two runs for the Chargers while Chris Auciello and Dylan Seel each had an RBI. Nick Vincelli and Sal Mistretta both had two RBIs in the lopsided win over the Zebras.
Their win improved Spotswood's overall season record to 8-2. They remain undefeated in league play. Spotswood sits on top of the Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division with a 6-0 record. Middlesex High School is second with a 7-1 league record. The Chargers will host Carteret High School on Friday, April 21 at 4 p.m. at the Spotswood High School Varsity Baseball Field.
