MANALAPAN, NJ - The Spotswood High School boys varsity basketball team defeated Calvary Christian at Sportika on Monday 42-39 for the team's second straight victory. Spotswood concluded its regular season with the win behind George Guyette's 12 points. James Clarke netted 11 points while Andrew Bishara scored 10 to help lead the Chargers. Kyle Davey chipped in nine points for Spotswood who improved the team's overall record to 12-14. Brien Dunphy II earned a double-double for Calvary Christian. Dunphy dropped 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
Spotswood has the rest of the week to prepare for Tuesday, March 3's NJSIAA Central Jersey Group Two first round matchup against Robbinsville High School. Robbinsville is the fourth seed in the sectional tournament with a 19-5 overall record. The Ravens were 11-2 in the CVC conference and have won their last five outings. Robbinsville has also won the last five meetings with the Chargers including a 56-48 victory back in December. Spotswood is the 13th seed in the tournament. Manasquan High School is the top seed in the group two sectional tournament. Game time is at 7 p.m. at Robbinsville High School.
