SOUTH RIVER, NJ - Four Chargers put up double digits in the Spotswood High School boys varsity basketball team's 51-43 victory over South River High School on Monday. Jack Welsh netted 11 points while Kyle Davey, Andrew Bishara and George Guyette each dropped 10 for the Chargers. Spotswood went into the halftime break with a nine-point lead. The two teams exchanged baskets in the second half with the Rams outscoring the Chargers by a one-point margin.
Casey Cumiskey added six points for Spotswood and James Clarke chipped in four. South River's Lazaro Rodriguez was the game's high scorer with 15 points. Dimere Smith had a dozen points for the Rams. The victory improved Spotswood's overall record to 6-10 and the team's Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division record to 4-6. The Chargers travel to Metuchen on Wednesday to face the Bulldogs. Spotswood won the previous meeting between the two teams this season. Tip off is at 7 p.m. at Metuchen High School.
