SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School boys varsity basketball team lost 71-51 on Wednesday to Monroe Township High School. Andrew Turco netted 50 points to lead the Falcons on the court. Andrew Bishara scored 10 points for Spotswood while Kyle Davey and Jack Andrulewich both added eight. James Clarke scored seven and Roman Carone chipped in five. Chris Kobierowski earned a double-double for Monroe, scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Spotswood was down by 17 points at the half, but came back stronger in the final two quarters, scoring 35 points. The loss drops the Chargers' overall record to 10-13. Spotswood is the 17th seed in the Greater Middlesex Conference tournament and plays 16th seeded Wardlaw-Hartridge High School on Tuesday, February 18 in the preliminary round. The winner goes up against top seeded St. Joseph's Metuchen High School on February 20.

The state sectional tournament gets under way on March 3. Spotswood meets fourth seeded Robbinsville High School in the first round. The Chargers are the 13th seed in the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group Two sectional tournament.
