Spotswood Boys Soccer Shut Out By North Brunswick

NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - The Spotswood High School boys varsity soccer team nabbed the sixteenth seed in the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament, which gets under way today. However, on Monday, October 16, the Chargers lost 2-0 to North Brunswick High School in their final tune up before taking the field for the preliminary round in the GMC Tournament.

Derrick Audain and Chris Scariano netted goals for North Brunswick while Fabrizzio Reyes notched an assist. Graham Randal earned the shutout for the Raiders, making eight saves. Andrew Bishara made ten saves for Spotswood in goal.

Spotswood will have two days of practice before their preliminary round matchup with South Plainfield High School on Thursday, October 19 at 2 p.m. at the Spotswood High School Varsity Soccer Field. Both Spotswood and South Plainfield earned byes in the play-in round. The winner of Thursday's game will go on to play top seeded Monroe High School in the first round. South Plainfield is seeded seventeenth in the tournament. South Plainfield has an overall record of 6-8-1 for the 2017 season. The Chargers are 11-6 with an 8-4 division record. This will be the first meeting between the Chargers and the Tigers this season.
