SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Andrew Oross started off the scoring for the seventh-seeded Spotswood High School boys varsity soccer team in the first round of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 2 Tournament matchup against 10th-seeded Voorhees High School off of a pass from Chris Moran. The Chargers would get another goal in the second half from Jordan Church from a feed by Danny Peabody to knock the Vikings out of the tournament. Andrew Bishara made six saves to earn the shutout in goal for Spotswood. Teddy Stafford made five saves for Voorhees on seven Spotswood shots.

The Chargers will now move on to the quarterfinal round of the tournament, taking on second seeded Monmouth Regional High School. Monmouth won their first round game against Robbinsville High School with a 3-0 shutout. The Falcons have a 13-9 overall record this season.

Yesterday's win against Voorhees improves the Chargers overall record for 2017 to 12-8-1. Spotswood will travel to Tinton Falls for the quarterfinal game against the Falcons on Friday. A start time was not available at press time.
