SOUTH RIVER, NJ - The Spotswood High School boys tennis team lost to South River High School on the court on Monday, 4-1. Derek Miller earned the only team point for the Chargers by winning his first singles match over Eric Tenezaca, (6-0, 6-0). Miller is 5-0 in regular season play and has yet to lose a set.

Spotswood's John Tobia won the first set in his second singles match against Paul Brinklin, (6-4), but Brinklin bounced back taking the next two sets, (6-2, 6-4). Matt Evanego played his second third singles match of the season for Spotswood, losing to the Rams' Arnav Jain, (8-6, 6-4). Stephen Gardner and Matt Chludzinski lost their first double match to Hunter McFeely and Neil Rana in straight sets, (6-4, 6-4). Connor Lennan and Luke Evanego dropped their second doubles match to Seamus O'Donnell and Brandon Vargas in straight sets as well, losing, (6-0, 6-0).

The Chargers' overall season fell to 3-2 with the loss. Spotswood will take on Metuchen High School on Wednesday at the Summerhill Road tennis courts. Matches are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m., weather permitting.
