SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School boys varsity basketball team is still looking for its first win of the season, as South River High School handed them the Chargers second straight defeat, winning 79-48.

Derrick Whitaker was the star of the game for the Rams, netting 31 points. Joseph Nigro scored 14 for South River while Michael DeSantis added 13 in the lopsided victory.

Sophomore Matt Vento continued to make an impression for the Chargers, scoring 10 points in the loss. Abdullah Nieskens also netted 10 points while junior Justin Dekovics scored nine. JT Vento added eight points to the scoreboard for Spotswood while fellow senior Andrew Fuzesi scored six.

Spotswood will look for its first win of the 2016-17 season against Bishop Ahr High School on Wednesday, Dec. 21 when they take on the Trojans at 6 p.m. in the Spotswood High School gym. Bishop Ahr is 1-1 on the season.
