Spotswood Boys Varsity Basketball Loses In Holiday Final

BOUND BROOK, NJ - After beating Piscataway Tech by a 32-point margin, the Spotswood High School boys varsity basketball team found themselves on the losing end against Bound Brook High School in the finals of the annual in-season holiday tournament. The host team beat the Chargers, 60-48 to take the tournament title. Tyson Amake earned a double-double for Bound Brook as did Kyle Frauenheim. Amake netted 16 points, but also pulled down 14 key rebounds. Frauenheim scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. RJ Frazier and Noah Smith both chipped in 10 for the Crusaders.

The Chargers, on the other hand, had a tougher time getting the offense going, due in large part to the Bound Brook defense. Andrew Fuzesi was again the top point getter for the Chargers, netting a dozen. Sophomore Matt Vento scored seven points while Vinnie Guardiola, Abdullah Nieskens and JT Vento all earned six points in the loss.

Somerville High School defeated Piscataway Tech in the consolation game, which took place prior to the final, 64-45.

The Chargers will pick up the regular season in 2017 with a 6 p.m. home game against Middlesex High School on January 4. Their overall record on the young season dropped to 2-4 with the loss to Bound Brook while the Chargers' conference record stands at 1-2.
