EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - The Spotswood High School boys varsity basketball team lost to East Brunswick High School 62-55 on Friday. Spotswood held a 32-21 halftime lead, but the Bears outscored the Chargers 42-23 in the final two quarters to take the victory.

Xavier Fitzegerald was the game's top scorer, netting 22 points for the Bears. Matt Vento was the Chargers' hot hand, scoring 20 points. Abdullah Nieskens added 14 points on the scoreboard for Spotswood while Vinnie Guardiola chipped in 11.

The loss drops Spotswood's overall record on the season to 15-11. Spotswood takes the court for first round action in the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group Two Tournament on Tuesday, February 27. The Chargers face off against Holmdel High School at 7 p.m. at the Spotswood High School Gymnasium. Spotswood is the eighth seed in the tournament. Holmdel is seeded ninth. The two teams have not played each other this season.
