METUCHEN, NJ - After delivering Bishop Ahr High School their first division loss on Wednesday, the Spotswood High School boys varsity basketball team came up short against rival Metuchen on Friday, losing 63-51. Spotswood took a two-point lead into the halftime break, but it would be the second half that would prove to be the difference maker in the game. Metuchen outscored Spotswood by a 10-point margin in the final eight minutes to nail down the victory. Spotswood was sizzling from the three-point line, scoring eight field goals in the matchup.

Amari Whitehead was the game's top scorer with 21 points. Daniel Russell netted 14 for the Bulldogs while Danny Petto earned a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Matt Vento was Spotswood's hot hand with 17 points. Abdullah Nieskens netted 15 and Vinnie Guardiola added 12. Justin Dekovics chipped in six.

The loss drops Spotswood's overall record to 9-7 and their conference record to 5-5. Spotswood will be back in action on Saturday with an afternoon home game against Monroe High School. Tip off is at 1 p.m.
