SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School boys varsity soccer team dropped its third straight game, losing to Bishop Ahr, 5-1. Their loss moved the Chargers' overall record down to 8-6 for the season and 7-5 in the Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division. Bishop Ahr is 8-3-1 overall and 9-3-1 in the GMC.
Spotswood's Matteo Tavelo netted the only goal of the game for the Chargers in the first half. Ed Kovalski assisted on the score.
The two teams ended the first period knotted at one. However, Bishop Ahr busted the game open in the second period, scoring four unanswered goals.
Fitzgerald Flores and Angelo Napoli both scored two goals for Bishop Ahr. John Dallaganese scored a goal and also had an assist in the game.
Bishop Ahr's goalie, Anthony Tirri, had one assist and made four saves.
The Chargers will look to get back on the winning track Wednesday, October 14, when the rival Rams visit. The matchup against South River begins at 4 p.m. on the varsity field.
