MONROE TOWNSHIP, NJ - The Spotswood High School cross country teams hosted a tri-meet with Sayreville and South Plainfield High Schools on Tuesday at Thompson Park. The boys cross country teams lost to South Plainfield 29-27 and to Sayreville 68-15. Anuj Patel and Matt Rios were the top ten finishers for the Chargers in the race. Patel was ninth with a time of 19:25 and Rios was 10th with a time of 19:36.

The girls cross country team lost to South Plainfield 35-20, but defeated Sayreville 21-38. Spotswood High School girls cross country coach Heather Rounds noted that six of the runners improved their overall finish times by two minutes.

Spotswood travels to Metuchen on Tuesday for a meet at St. Joseph's High School. The race is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
