SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team lost to South Brunswick High School 53-47 on Wednesday. Spotswood couldn't stop a fourth quarter rally by the Vikings where South Brunswick outscored the Chargers 26 to 7. Maddie Hellerich netted 17 points for Spotswood while Jessica Addesso scored 10. Allison Clarke and Kirti Craig both added seven for the Chargers whose overall record drops to 12-11. Carla Seyforth dropped 19 points for the Vikings and Katie Rausch chipped in 17 points.
Spotswood is back on the court on Saturday to take on New Egypt High School at the Spotswood High School Gymnasium at 1 p.m. The Chargers lost the last meeting between the two teams. New Egypt has an overall record of 15-6 this season. Spotswood has two regular season games left and is gearing up for tournament play. The Chargers are the 16th seed in the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group Two sectional tournament and are slotted to play top-seeded Rumson-Fair Haven High School on March 3.
