SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team was undefeated in conference play going into yesterday's game against Middlesex High School at the Spotswood High School Gymnasium. However, the Blue Jays were undefeated in both regular season and division games. Middlesex remain perfect as they sit on top of the Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division, beating the Chargers 53-42.

Middlesex had a five point halftime lead and outscored Spotswood 34-30 in the second half. Olivia Robel scored 17 points for the Blue Jays while Brianna Montajes added 10.

Courtney Potter was Spotswood's top scorer with 13. Savannah Robinson scored nine points for the Chargers while Sarah Marotta added six. Jessica Addesso and Erin Malin both scored four points while Paige Dadika, Maddie Hellerich and Julia Masucci chipped in two.

Spotswood's loss drops their overall season record to 4-3. Their other two losses came during tournament play over winter break. They are 4-1 in division play and are currently third in the Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division behind Middlesex and South River.

The Chargers will look to bounce back against Highland Park High School on Friday, January 5 when they travel to Highland Park for a 6 p.m. game. Highland Park is winless thus far this season.
