SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls tennis team lost to John K. Kennedy Memorial High School 3-2 on Wednesday. The victory was the first of the season for JFK. Chargers first singles player Gabriela Zeron and the freshmen second doubles duo of Melody Dzergoski and Angelina Moschella earned the two match points for Spotswood.
Zeron defeated Druhva Patel, (6-3, 6-2), and Dzergoski and Moschella won over Yashvi Patel and Srushti Patel, (7-6, 6-3). The pair won the first set tie-breaker, (7-5). Karen Mausser lost her second singles match to Riddhi Patel, (6-4, 6-3). Axelle Lemiere won the first set of her third singles match with Darshwana Arunprasath (7-5), but lost the remaining two sets, (6-4, 6-4). Elizabeth Sullivan and Lindsey Michaels lost their first doubles match to Aryra Khan and Nandini Singh, (6-3, 6-2).
The loss drops Spotswood's overall season record to 3-4. Spotswood travels to Spring Lake Park today to play South Plainfield High School. Matches begin at 4 p.m.
