SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity tennis team lost the second match in the home at home series with South Plainfield. The 4-1 loss dropped the Chargers' record to 8-8.
Taylor Latimer lost her first singles match to Emily Sukenik in three sets. Latimer dropped the first set, 6-4, but came back to take the second, 6-4. She ended up losing the decisive third set, 6-2.
Katie Rivera moved up to play second singles, but lost in straight sets to Venkata Preethi R Dwarasila, 6-1, 6-0. Spotswood's Danielle Jegou played in the third singles slot and dropped her match to Kim Lam, 6-0, 6-1.
The first doubles team of Jenna Bousellam and Alexandra Tennill lost a tough three set match to Connie Chen and Katelyn Borsos. The girls lost the first set in a tie-break and came back to win the second set, 6-2. However, they dropped the third set, 6-1.
The sophomore second doubles team of Devin Ryan and Isabella Santiago earned the only point for Spotswood in the match. They beat Marianna Fahmy and Akachukwa F Uba, 6-4, 6-3.
The Chargers will take on South River this afternoon on the Summerhill Road courts at 4 p.m.
