CLARK, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team defeated Arthur L. Johnson High School 53-51 on Friday. Savannah Robinson netted 11 points for Spotswood with six assists. Erin Malin scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds. Maddie Hellerich added nine points, pulling down 11 rebounds and earning eight assists. Paige Dadika chipped in eight points while Sarah Marotta and Courtney Potter both scored six. Kristina Palella scored 13 for Johnson and Dannie Hartzler added 10.

The victory improves Spotswood's overall season record to 17-8. The Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division co-champions begin play in the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group Two Tournament on Tuesday, February 27. The fifth seeded Chargers will take on 12th seeded South River High School at the Spotswood High School Gymnasium at 5 p.m. Spotswood won the previous two meetings between the two teams this season.
