SPOTSWOOD, NJ - 2016 didn't start out on a high note for the Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team. The Chargers opened the New Year with a 55-31 loss to Dunellen. By the half, they only had ten points on the board.
Mary Beth Barnosky remained the top point-scorer for Spotswood. Barnosky finished the game with 13 points. Erin Malin had five points and also grabbed 10 rebounds for the Chargers. Sarah Marotta and Courtney Potter both chipped in four points in the loss.
Sydney Miller was the star of the game for the Destroyers with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
The loss drops Spotswood's overall record to 3-3 on the young season. They remain undefeated in conference play with a 1-0 record.
The Chargers will look to rebound with a win at home against Iselin Kennedy on Wednesday, January 6 at 6 p.m.
