CLARK, NJ - 2016 wasn't going very well for the Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team. Up until yesterday, the Chargers had only won one of their last five games. They finally broke through on the scoreboard, with a 59-22 victory over Mother Seton.

The Chargers dominated in both halves, outscoring the Setters, 30-13 in the first half and 29-9 in the second. The win moves their overall record to 5-6 and their conference record to 3-2.

Mary Beth Barnosky and Grace Mehr both netted 13 points each for the Chargers. Senior Jessica Meagher scored ten points while Lizzie Vignuolo added nine. Courtney Potter and Julie Raba contributed four each. Maria Izzo, Erin Malin and Paige Sheehy all chipped in two points to help nail down a much-needed win.

The Chargers will look to make their overall record .500 with a win against Edison this afternoon with a 1 p.m. home game.
