CLARK - The Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team's defense shut down Mother Seton High School's offense in a 60-8 victory over the Setters on Wednesday.
Mother Seton managed only six points in the first half and just two in the third quarter. The Chargers kept the Setters completely off the scoreboard in the fourth quarter.
Spotswood scored 10-plus points in each of the four quarters. Courtney Potter had nine points for the Chargers and pulled down six rebounds while Paige Dadika scored seven points with nine rebounds. Julie Raba also netted seven points.
The lopsided victory moves the Chargers record on the young season to 2-1. They will play Metuchen High School at the Spotswood High School Gymnasium on Friday, Dec. 23 at 6 p.m. for the final regular season game before the winter break. However, the team will see some holiday tournament action during the week-long layoff. Their first game in the tournament at Bound Brook High School will be on Tuesday, Dec. 27 at 5 p.m. where they will take on Bound Brook High School in the first round.
