Spotswood Girls Varsity Defeats Timothy Christian On The Court

PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team defeated the Timothy Christian School, 48-32, on Saturday, January 21. It took both teams until the second half to get rolling. The first two quarters only saw 11 points by the Tigers and 13 by the Chargers. However, the final two quarters were more action-packed with Spotswood outscoring Timothy Christian by a decisive, 37-19 margin. The Spotswood bench also got balanced scoring for the majority of its players.

Mary Beth Barnosky was the top scorer for Spotswood with 11 points. Erin Malin netted eight while both Maddie Hellerich and Courtney Potter added six. Savannah Robinson scored five in the victory while Olivia Hellerich and Jessica Addesso both chipped in four. Sierra Thomas netted a game-high 14 points for Timothy Christian. Thomas also grabbed seven rebounds. Katelyn Dyer scored 10 for the Tigers.

The win moves the Chargers' overall season record to 8-6. They are 6-3 in conference play. The team will travel to Perth Amboy High School on Monday, January 23 for a 5:30 p.m. away game.
