CARTERET, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity soccer team won their ninth straight game and earned their fifth shut out in a row, defeating Carteret 2-0.
Both of the Spotswood goals came in the first half though the team kept Carteret's goaltender, Kate Pena busy. Pena made 10 saves in the matchup.
Lauren Kiszkiel and Sabrina Ortolano both netted goals for the Chargers while Samantha Allen had an assist. Lizzie Vignuolo made one save in net to earn her eighth shut out on the season. The junior netminder has 44 saves on the season.
The Chargers improved their overall record to 9-1. The ladies have won nine straight games since dropping their home opener to South Brunswick in September. They are 9-0 in conference games. Their next opponent will be Metuchen. The team will travel to Metuchen for a 4 p.m. contest on Wednesday, October 7. It will be the first matchup between the two teams this season.
