SPOTSWOOD, NJ - On Saturday, October 8, the Spotswood High School girls varsity soccer team routed New Brunswick High School, 6-0. Lizzie Vignuolo earned her sixth shutout of the season while Erin Thuring netted the hat trick. Danielle Wittig, Jamie Zavala and Carolina Fernandez all added one goal in the lopsided victory.
However, after being the router, the Chargers had the tide turned on them by Wardlaw-Hartridge High School on Tuesday, October 10, losing 6-1. The Rams' Sofia Ambrosio scored a hat trick while Jane Anderson-Schmitt netted two and Amanda Jenkins scored one goal. Mia Reyes notched three assists to set a new record at Wardlaw-Hartridge. Reyes broke the previous career assist record at the school, which stood at 38. With her three assists against the Chargers, Reyes' career assist total stands at 41.
The loss to Wardlaw-Hartridge dropped Spotswood's overall record on the season to 8-4. They will take on Old Bridge High School on Friday, October 14 at 4 p.m at the Spotswood High School Varsity Soccer Field.
