SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity tennis team defeated South River High School on Wednesday, October 12, 5-0. Their win moved the Chargers' overall record on the 2016 season to 7-7 while the struggling Rams dropped to 1-12.

All three of Spotswood's singles players won in straight sets. Katie Rivera defeated Kayelena Brimage, (6-1, 6-1) while Jenna Bousellam beat Joleen Fahmy, (6-1, 6-1). Third singles player Isabella Santiago also defeated her opponent, Lycett Thiel by the score of (6-1, 6-1).

Both Chargers' doubles teams also won in straight sets. The first doubles pair of Kaylie Writt and Alexandra Tennill beat Nur Hassan and Abbey Stewart, (6-3, 6-1) while the second doubles team of Nikki Prascak and Devin Ryan defeated Theresa Wang and Maya Rana, (7-5, 6-2).

The Chargers will travel to Woodbridge on Monday, October 17 to take on Woodbridge High School at 4 p.m.
