Spotswood Girls Varsity Win Seventh Straight On Senior Night

SPOTSWOOD, NJ - It's a tradition at Spotswood High School to honor seniors in one of their final regular season home games. Friday was Senior Night for the Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team. Making the evening even brighter for graduating seniors, Sarah Marotta, Courtney Potter and Erin Malin, the trio helped the team nail down their seventh straight victory with a 52-17 win against Highland Park High School. The Chargers' defense effectively shut down the Owls, holding the team to only two points in the opening quarter and just one point in the third quarter. Aiya Underwood netted the majority of Highland Park's points with 12.

Marotta was the game's top scorer with 16 points. Maddie Hellerich scored 10 points and also had six rebounds, five assists, five blocks and 10 steals. Julia Masucci and Jessica Addesso both added six points while Brielle McCoy, Potter and Malin all chipped in four points. Paige Dadika had five blocks and three steals.

The Senior Night victory improves Spotswood's overall record to 14-4. Spotswood is currently second in the Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division with an 11-1 conference record. The Chargers will be back on the court on Saturday against Ridge High School at the Spotswood High School Gymnasium. Tip off is at 1 p.m.
