HELMETTA, NJ - Share a slice with officers from the Spotswood Police Department on Thursday, November 14 at the Helmetta Community Center from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The officers will also be bringing out the board games as well for a complete family-friendly fun night. So kids of all ages are welcome.

Coffee with a Cop is a nation-wide initiative that began in California in 2011. Police officers in Hawthorne were looking for a way to develop a more positive relationship with the residents in the community they serve. Coffee with a Cop was born and has since expanded to all fifty states and to other countries as well. Canada, Australia and countries in Europe, Latin American and Africa have begun using Coffee with a Cop to help bridge the gap between residents and law enforcement officers.

In recent years, Coffee with a Cop branched out to include younger residents. Many police departments like the SPD now host both events in an effort to reach out to all age brackets of the communities they serve.

The Helmetta Community Center is located at 1 Brookside Place.
